SUMMARY
Historically the IT department has helped their organisation by implementing and maintaining technology to help improve efficiencies. Everything they have done has been about removing risk to allow the management of the business to run more effectively.
Now they are being asked to lead the business, to guide it forward and develop strategies and solutions that will not only help operationally but at a customer-facing level also.
The problem is they can’t do it if they are still treated as an IT department.
